Rowing boat insurance is a must for anyone who wants to protect themselves against financial risks. We, at HKVA, offer you a range of coverage options in various areas:
Rowing boat liability insurance
Rowing boat liability insurance is not a legal requirement, but it is a “must have” for anyone who wants to protect themselves against unforeseeable damage. Rowing boat liability insurance covers you if you cause property damage, financial loss, or personal injury with your rowing boat. Boat insurance provides you with appropriate indemnity for damages to third parties.
Advantages of our rowing boat liability insurance
- Fixed coverage amounts up to 15M EUR for personal injury, property damage, and financial loss
- Bad debt coverage kicks in if your own boat is damaged by a third party who is unable to pay (in accordance with Section 6 of the special conditions).
- Damage to rented property, e.g., jetties and piers, is included in the insurance
- Worldwide insurance coverage
- Required deposits are covered up to EUR 50,000
- 24-hour claims hotline
- Trailer can be included in the insurance
- Skipper Liability insurance::
- For chartered Houseboats: The policy also covers the statutory liability of the policyholder and his/her spouse arising from the private use of a chartered houseboat with up to 500 HP, provided that the total duration of the charter does not exceed 6 weeks per insurance year. Damage to the rented watercraft itself is excluded. No insurance cover exists if insurer is primarily liable to indemnify the policyholder and his/her spouse, e.g. the liability insurer of the chartered houseboat.
- etc.
Rowing boat liability insurance indemnifies you against claims that can prove to be particularly costly. Typical examples include:
- Personal injury, property damage, or financial loss resulting from the operation and ownership of the houseboat
- A collision with a jetty during a mooring maneuver
- A fire originating from your houseboat and igniting other objects
- The insured trailer rolls away, thereby causing an accident
- etc.

Every rowing boat is unique - your boat insurance should be as well. We insure a fixed value. The fixed value is the current value of the items to be insured at the time the contract is concluded. For new boats, this corresponds to the purchase price. The insured value is considered an “indisputable value”. This means that any objection of underinsurance is excluded.
Accident insurance
Insurance that protects everyone!
When sailing across the sea, accidents can happen at any time, whether at your own fault or that of others. This can have serious consequences for boat owners. In such cases, Passenger accident insurance can help. It protects boat owners and their passengers from financial ruin and protects all eligible passengers on board.
Legal expenses insurance
Is legal protection necessary for pleasure boating?
Legal disputes are a nightmare for every boat owner. They are not only expensive, but also time-consuming and nerve-wracking. With Legal protection insurance, we and our lawyers are there to support you in such cases.
